Description

The Subaru Adaptive Secondary Mirror is a key component of the ULTIMATE-Subaru project, providing the ground-layer correction for wide-field infrared instrument at the Subaru telescope on the summit of Maunakea (Hawaii), operated by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ).
With a diameter of 1.265 m, it is the largest monolithic adaptive secondary mirror ever built. The adaptive secondary mirror will replace the existing f/13.6 secondary serving the instruments at the Nasmyth focus, keeping the existing positioner and support structure.

microgate responsibilities

Microgate, acting as consortium leader, is responsible for the design, development, construction and testing of embedded electronics, firmware and software, and control systems supporting the adaptive secondary mirror infrastructure, including fine temperature control of the cooling fluid.The activities include electronics production, subsystem testing, system-level integration, electromechanical and optical testing, performed in environmental conditions. and final on-site commissioning.
