In ice skating, millisecond precision (1/1000s) is essential to manage simultaneous finishes accurately. Microgate systems provide dedicated solutions for every discipline, from Speed Skating to Short Track. Thanks to the integration between Microgate devices, FinishLynx photo-finish technology, and transponder systems, every passage can be identified with certainty while ensuring precise management of pursuit races. We provide dedicated timing solutions for ice skating: in pursuit races, HiSens photocells detect passages and transmit them wirelessly to the ReiPRO timer, which manages both the race and display boards through the dedicated “pursuit” program. In Mass Start and Short Track events, integration with FinishLynx photo-finish and transponders ensures precise passage and finish detection. Every device is certified FIS, guaranteeing precision and reliability even at low temperatures.

Configuration 1
Speed Skating – Long Track
For speed skating, Microgate offers bespoke solutions based on the ReiPro timing system, starting pistol sensors and HiSens wireless photoelectric barriers. The system manages time trials (100-metre split times and intermediate distances), team pursuit races (time of the third athlete using mirror-image photoelectric barriers) and mass starts (sprint points and lap counters). The system can be combined with active chips featuring Race Result technology on both ankles and the FinishLynx photo-finish system to ensure the highest level of precision.
Configuration 2
Short Track
In Short Track, Microgate manages sprint races, relays and super finals on a 111.12-metre track. The solution incorporates a pistol sensor and HiLink radio transmitter, a HiSens Radio photocell, a ReiPro stopwatch with scoreboard, a FinishLynx photo finish system and active chips featuring Race Result technology on both ankles.
