Professional timing
Introduction
Timing in roller speed skating — track, road or marathon events — combines state-of-the-art technologies: ReiPro timers, high-speed FinishLynx cameras and photocells with ten-thousandth-of-a-second precision positioned at skate height. The system manages individual races, team events, pursuit races, points races and elimination formats. For marathons, active transponders are integrated into the setup. ReiPro automates the management of unlimited heats and series, ensuring absolute precision for every race format and skating discipline.

Configuration 1
Time Trial Races
The Microgate skating system integrates the ReiPro timer, photocells and FinishLynx camera. It includes an electronic start system with acoustic and visual signals. For maximum precision, photocells should be positioned 30 cm above ground at the start and 10 cm above ground at the finish. The setup is completed with MicroGraph or MicroTab scoreboards, configurable according to the level of the event, from club competitions to international races.

Mass Start, Agility, Sprint, 1000 m Sprint, “Tiezzi Model” Inline Races, Relays and Team Sprint
For mass start races, sprints and relays, Microgate offers the ReiPro timer integrated with a FinishLynx camera and electronic acoustic/visual start system. Correct photocell positioning is essential: 30 cm at the start and 10 cm at the finish. The system is completed with MicroGraph or MicroTab scoreboards, adaptable to every competition level for clear and professional display of times and rankings.

The Microgate pursuit racing system integrates the ReiPro timer with photocells on both lines and FinishLynx cameras for each finish line. It includes an electronic start system with acoustic and visual signals. Photocells must be positioned 30 cm above ground at the start and 10 cm at the finish. MicroGraph/MicroTab scoreboards complete the setup and can be scaled according to the importance of the event.

Lane Sprint (Road Only)
For road lane sprint races, the Microgate system uses the ReiPro timer with electronic acoustic/visual starts. Each lane (2 or 3) features dedicated photocells; the use of HiSens Radio and HiLink on different frequencies prevents interference between lanes. The setup combines wired and wireless solutions, while official competitions require the FinishLynx camera for photo-finish verification.

Elimination Races
In elimination races, the ReiPro timer is integrated with electronic starts and HiSens photocells. The FinishLynx camera determines the eliminated athlete by analyzing the last skate crossing the line, whether in contact with the ground or lifted. The MiSpeaker software manages the procedure in real time, sending the eliminated athlete’s data to the MicroGraph/MicroTab scoreboards for maximum clarity for judges and spectators.

Points Races
For points races, Microgate provides an electronic start system that also manages the bells for sprint laps. The setup integrates the ReiPro timer, HiSens photocells and FinishLynx camera for sprint finishes. Thanks to MiSpeaker software and MicroGraph/MicroTab scoreboards, athletes and spectators can view sprint points and overall rankings in real time.

Marathons
In road marathons, Microgate manages large numbers of athletes by combining transponder systems and FinishLynx cameras to resolve every close finish. The electronic start is synchronized with chips and photo-finish systems, while results are processed through dedicated mass-start software such as MiSpeaker, ensuring fast and accurate rankings for all participants.

Downhill
For downhill skating, Microgate manages time trials, heat races and speed measurement. The system uses RTPro at the start and ReiPro at the finish, with the HiChrono App transmitting data in real time. In heat races, the FinishLynx camera is essential. MiSpeaker software processes rankings across multiple runs, top speeds and relay events, displaying times and positions on MicroGraph scoreboards.
